The short version
Bring the right element only after checking that the Pal is trained, its equipped attacks can connect and your player loadout covers the fight's real danger.
Before you begin
Start with the encounter
- Identify the main enemy element and the attacks that create the most danger.
- Choose a counter that can survive the arena and consistently reach the target.
- Keep a second option in case the primary Pal is knocked out or poorly suited to the terrain.
Inspect the equipped attacks
- A matching species does not help if its current skills are slow or unreliable.
- Use at least one quick attack to maintain pressure between larger cooldowns.
- Test range and tracking on ordinary enemies before entering a timed boss room.
Protect the player side of the plan
- Repair armor and shield and remove unnecessary carry weight.
- Stand apart from the Pal so one attack does not hit both targets.
- Recall before a large telegraphed hit, then redeploy from a safer angle.
