The short version
Keep daily work on the ground, give stairs generous approach space and move set-and-forget structures upstairs only after testing access.
Before you begin
Zone by visit frequency
- Keep food, storage and nonstop production on the ground floor.
- Place breeding, expeditions and other low-frequency structures above.
- Do not force every worker upstairs for a resource used several times per minute.
Build stairs for large workers
- Use a straight, wide approach with no doorway at the first step.
- Provide extra vertical clearance where large Pals turn or enter a floor.
- Test both directions with the largest worker you plan to deploy.
Stack with a maintenance plan
- Use alignment and temporary supports to keep repeated pieces consistent.
- Stop before a compact stack becomes impossible to inspect or repair.
- Leave a clear interaction side and confirm every level remains reachable after reload.
