The short version

Keep daily work on the ground, give stairs generous approach space and move set-and-forget structures upstairs only after testing access.

Before you begin

Wide stairs
Three-floor machinery clearance
Open interaction points
Ground-floor production
Upper-floor low-traffic jobs
Pathing test

Zone by visit frequency

  • Keep food, storage and nonstop production on the ground floor.
  • Place breeding, expeditions and other low-frequency structures above.
  • Do not force every worker upstairs for a resource used several times per minute.

Build stairs for large workers

  • Use a straight, wide approach with no doorway at the first step.
  • Provide extra vertical clearance where large Pals turn or enter a floor.
  • Test both directions with the largest worker you plan to deploy.

Stack with a maintenance plan

  • Use alignment and temporary supports to keep repeated pieces consistent.
  • Stop before a compact stack becomes impossible to inspect or repair.
  • Leave a clear interaction side and confirm every level remains reachable after reload.

Video research

We reviewed the public player videos below, compared their demonstrated routes, and rewrote the useful findings in our own words. No official guide copy or video transcript is reproduced here. Results can still vary with world settings and later patches.
